SPINAL MANIPULATION

The most frequently used chiropractic technique, spinal manipulation, is the traditional high-velocity low-amplitude (HVLA) thrust. The manipulation often results in an audible "pop," as chiropractors use their hands to apply a controlled sudden force to a joint while the body is positioned in a specific way. It’s a technique where practitioners use their hands or a device to apply a controlled thrust to a joint of your spine. The amount of force can vary, but the thrust moves the joint more than it would on its own.  manipulation is different from spinal mobilization, which doesn’t involve a thrust.

PEDIATRIC CARE

Chiropractic care is not just for adults. Young children can also benefit from a trip to the chiropractor’s office. Many parents might not know the importance of taking their child to a chiropractor. From improved behaviour to better sleep, it can help your child in a myriad of ways. Chiropractic care works well for children because their bodies are still growing. The alignment of the spine is very important for proper development. Chiropractors can alleviate tense muscles that lead to a misaligned spine or subluxation. This condition leads to other health conditions and physical issues. These include ear infections, headaches, asthma, and much more.

SPINAL MOBILIZATION

Some conditions (such as osteoporosis), pathology, the patient's size, patient comfort, or patient preference, may require a gentler approach generally referred to as spinal mobilization. In addition, some patients and/or clinicians prefer mild spinal mobilization techniques that do not involve twisting of the body or a forceful thrust.

ShockwaveTherapy_edited.jpg

SHOCKWAVE

We are immensely proud to announce that our practice will be offering shockwave therapy as it is a very scarce treatment to come about. We pride ourselves in outstanding patient care and therefore we went the extra mile to make sure we set up a state of the art practice with only the best equipment and modalities available. Shockwave therapy is a non-invasive treatment that involves creating a series of low energy acoustic wave pulsations that are directly applied to an injury through a person’s skin via a gel medium. Shockwave therapy is a modality that is becoming more common. Extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT), is used in the treatment of many musculoskeletal conditions, primarily those involving connective tissues such as ligaments and tendons.

DRY NEEDLING_edited.jpg

DRY NEEDLING

Trigger-point dry needling is an invasive procedure where a very thin needle is inserted into the skin and muscle. It is aimed at myofascial trigger points (MTrP) which are hyperirritable spots in skeletal muscle that are associated with a hypersensitive palpable nodule in a taut band. Trigger point dry needling can be carried out at superficial or deep tissue level. This treatment may be used in cases where you have pulled a muscle or it may help to speed up healing after a muscle or ligament injury. It helps to reduce pain and tension within the muscle and also helps to improve function within the motor endplates, which is where nerve impulses send signals to muscles. This treatment can be a highly effective part of rehabilitation after injury.

CUPPING

Cupping is a type of alternative therapy that involves placing cups on the skin to create suction. The suction facilitates healing with blood flow by increasing blood circulation to the area where the cups are placed. This relieves muscle tension, which can improve overall blood flow and promote cell repair. It also helps to form new connective tissues and create new blood vessels in the tissue.

flexion distraction_edited.jpg

FLEXION & CERVICAL DISTRACTION

Flexion Distraction is a gentle chiropractic method that is usually used on patients with lower back and neck pain. It is especially effective on patients with bulging discs or herniations. It also stretches the soft tissue surrounding the spine causing an extremely relaxing sensation on the entire spine. It is proven to b especially effective in conditions such as cervical disc disease, cervical spine fracture, cervical spine degeneration, spondylosis, radiculopathy, foraminal stenosis, myofascial tightness. When the traction is applied it results in opening of the joints which provides relieve in an otherwise stressed joint.

These movements and techniques are used to try to help the athlete's body achieve maximum performance and physical conditioning with a decreased chance of injury or pain and a quicker recovery.

ACTIVATOR TOOL

The Activator Method chiropractic technique is a type of manual manipulation treatment used by chiropractors to treat various types of back and neck pain, as well as extremity complaints. This treatment method uses the Activator adjusting instrument, which is an alternative to traditional manipulation utilizing a high velocity, low amplitude (HVLA) thrust, such as the Diversified technique.

INTERFERENTIAL CURRENT THERAPY

Interferential current therapy is an effective therapy used by many practitioners to relieve pain and accelerate the self-healing process. The high frequency signals of an IFC penetrate through the skin into deeper lying muscle tissues. Electrodes are placed on your skin which transmits electrical impulses through your skin. Underlying tissue and nerves are stimulated which begins the healing properties. Frequencies produced by the IFC have been proven to stimulate endorphins, the body’s natural pain killers without the need for any medications. It is also extremely useful in reducing pain, inflammation, curing edema, and spasms.

ULTRASOUND THERAPY_edited.jpg

ULTRASOUND THERAPY

Therapeutic ultrasound is often used by physiotherapists to reduce pain, increase circulation and increase mobility of soft tissues. Additionally, the application of ultrasound can be helpful in the reduction of inflammation, reducing pain and the healing of injuries and wounds. The ultrasound machine works by sending an electric current through crystals found in the ultrasound probe — also known as the ultrasound wand. The probe vibrates, causing waves to travel through the skin to the body underneath. The waves transfer energy to the tissues to cause the desired effects. Ultrasound can also be focused on tissues deep within your body without affecting other tissues close to the surface. The frequency and intensity of the ultrasound, the duration of the procedure, and the area of its application all determine how ultrasound physical therapy is done.

KINESIOLOGY TAPING

Kinesiology Taping Method is a therapeutic tool utilised by specialists in all programs and levels of care. It is used in pain management, soft tissue injury, tissues and joints malalignment, oedema, pregnancy support and more. Kinesio Taping Method utilises four types of Kinesio Tex Tapes, each one with specific properties designed to use on fragile skin, sensitive skin or applied with higher tensions. When applied it lifts the skin which causes micro-space between the skin and underlying tissue. It can also be used for support, stability, swelling, bruising and much more.
